Reunited and making a difference!

The Alumni Meeting of Tumaini BACD held on February 22, 2025 in Mikocheni, Dar es Salaam, was more than just a reunion, it was a celebration of community service and shared responsibility. The participants represented graduates of the Bachelor of Arts in Community Development program from Tumaini University (now Iringa University) who are living in Dar Es Salaam, gathered with a common goal of giving back a little we have to their community.

During the meeting, the alumni collectively contributed 1,000,000 TZS to support people in need in Tanzania. This generous initiative, spearheaded by Geofrey Kulanga, the Business Development Lead at Save the Needy Tanzania, exemplifies their unwavering commitment to social impact, philanthropy, and sustainable development.

When submitting the funds, Elizabeth Ngede (first from the left in the photo), the BACD group Secretary, shared a quote from Winston Churchill “We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.” She further emphasized, “By providing this small amount of money from our income, which sustains us, our generosity and contributions to others define the quality and fulfillment of our lives.”

The alumni’s contribution aligns with fundamental Community Development principles that promote volunteerism and charitable giving, through this thoughtful initiative, the Tumaini BACD alumni demonstrated how education in Community Development translates into real-world action, reinforcing the power of collaboration, compassion, and a shared vision for a better society. Their efforts serve as an inspiration for future graduates and community leaders, highlighting the transformative role of volunteerism and charity in sustainable development.
